Introducing HSE Modulo ONE
The next-generation edger unites high performance and exceptional efficiency in an ultra- compact footprint, delivering uncompromising throughput.
Featuring four processing stations, a loading unit, and two high-speed, blockless LMU lens measuring units, the system is designed for maximum productivity. Its intelligent process flow and distinctive revolving architecture enable extreme parallelization and ultra-fast handling.
Multiple spindles operate continuously – no tool changes – minimizing non-productive time and achieving industry-leading chip-to-chip and overall cycle times.
The revolutionary hydro-F technology conditions the clamping chucks to deliver stable, reliable clamping even with delicate superhydrophobic lenses.
HSE Modulo ONE’s star-shaped station layout is tightly enclosed. Swarf is extracted directly at the point of generation, supporting clean operation while significantly reducing energy consumption.
The system provides fully automated, integrated quality control and can serve as a final inspection step. Two LMUs measure the complete lens map – before edging for Rx verification and after edging for Rx and fitting checks. Reduced slippage, a cleaner environment and tight process control minimize breakage and measurably increase overall process efficiency.
Built powerfully for uncompromising efficiency
Every element of this high-performance edger is designed for speed, precision, and continuous flow. Its unique revolving architecture integrates stations for loading, rough cutting, tactile measurement, and dual finishing.
Rapid rotation transfers lenses between stations in less than a second – delivering extremely high productive time and true parallel processing.
Multiple high-frequency milling spindles operate simultaneously, with two spindles per finishing station using combined tools, enabling a wide range of edge geometries to be processed seamlessly – without tool changes.
A rigid base provides the robustness required for high-speed edging, ensuring maximum precision and consistently superior edge quality.
Revolutionary Hydro-F technology
For delicate lenses, SCHNEIDER has developed Hydro-F technology, conditioning the clamping chucks to deliver consistently high friction and stable, reliable clamping – even with superhydrophobic lenses.
The result: greater process stability, higher throughput and significantly reduced breakage.
Next level swarf management
Designed for maximum efficiency and uptime, the HSE Modulo ONE features a tightly encapsulated work chamber with targeted extraction directly at the point of generation.
The result is exceptional swarf control with smaller extraction units, significantly reducing energy consumption.
Larger cutouts are collected separately for easy disposal.
Local ionization minimizes static charge, improving extraction efficiency and maintaining a consistently clean machine environment.
Cleaner lenses leaving the edger reduce the risk of scratching during handling or downstream cleaning.
Serviceability is built in. Excellent accessibility allows fast, plug-and-play replacement of key components and wear parts.
Sustainability engineered in
Actively air-cooled spindles eliminate the need for external chillers, significantly reducing power consumption.
A high-efficiency vacuum system replaces compressed-air-based vacuum generators.
However, the most effective path to sustainability is simple: don’t create waste at all – enabled by intelligent control and advanced trend-recognition.
Smart quality assurance built-in
The HSE Modulo ONE is equipped with two advanced lens measuring units for fully integrated quality control – before and after edging.
Before edging, each lens is evaluated to prevent mix-ups, verify compliance with specifications, and establish a robust quality gate.
Out-of-spec lenses are identified and excluded before processing. After edging, each lens is checked again for optical power, size, and fitting parameters.
The LMUs evaluate the complete lens surface map, including spherical and cylindrical power, axis, and prism, ensuring optimal positioning. Alternatively, AI-based engraving recognition reliably identifies markings, even when barely visible.
Measurement data is continuously analyzed, trends are detected, and the edger recalibrates automatically – forming a closed-loop quality process, ensuring high quality results without intervention.
In many cases, this integrated approach can replace external final inspection. All relevant data and the full power maps, are uploaded to the Control Center for advanced analysis and root-cause insights.
The Modulo advantage
HSE Modulo ONE comes with an on-board global interface philosophy enabling seamless connection to the Modulo system. As an integral part of this one-of-a-kind system, the machine is monitored centrally via the Control Center. Lab managers have full visibility of the current machine status, allowing critical situations and downtime to be avoided before they occur. Higher uptimes and increased yields are guaranteed.
